The Ladies of Horror Fiction team picked our next readalong for May with help from a community wide poll. Thank you to everyone who took time to vote. We will be reading Jennifer McMahon's The Winter People if you want to join us. We will be posting discussion questions each Sunday in May.
Posted Since My Last Update

- Upcoming March 2019 Book Releases in Fantasy, Horror, and Science Fiction
Finished Reading
In an Absent Dream (Wayward Children #4) by Seanan McGuire ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - So happy because I loved it... so sad because now I'm totally caught up on this series now.
The Wolf and the Watchman by Niklas Natt och Dag ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Your eyes are not deceiving you - two ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ reads. Stay tuned for some reviews!
The Widening Gyre by Michael R. Johnston ⭐⭐⭐★★ - This one was very middle of the road so you will probably see it pop up in a mini review at some point.
Currently Reading
Children of Time (Children of Time #1) by Adrian Tchaikovsky - I'm buddy reading this one on audio with Lilyn. So far I'm surprised by my love of the spiders in this book. Life is strange!
A Dangerous Collaboration - I just started this one. I'm anxious to see what this series is all about.
Recent Acquisitions
Many, many thanks to Word Horde for sending me A Hawk in the Woods by Carrie Laben and Memento Mori by Brian Hauser. I'm super excited to give these a review.
I'm also super excited to read Hanna Jameson's The Last! Thank you to Atria for sending me a review copy.
So what about you? Let me know what you're reading this week or leave me some links!
This post is being shared as part of Book Date's It's Monday! What Are You Reading? and Caffeinated Book Reviewer's The Sunday Post.
I love the cover for A Dangerous Collaboration. :)
ReplyDeleteI do, too! I was reading it on St. Patrick's Day, and the pretty green just made me happy. :)
DeleteI've been eyeing The Winter People a bit, so I'll be curious to see what you guys end up thinking of that one!
ReplyDeleteI've been so bad about reviewing the readalong books. I think we do so much discussion that it feels complete before I have a chance to write up a review. I made a point to write a review for The Between, though. I'll try to do the same for The Winter People!
DeleteI'll be interested to see what you think of The Winter People. I received it in a book subscription box and it's been sitting on my shelves for ages.
ReplyDeleteYou should join us!! But I'll be sure to post a review after the readalong has ended.
DeleteHahaha Jennifer you are happy because you loved it but at the same time not so much because you are all in the series now? LOL
ReplyDeleteIt's a complicated reaction. LOL.
DeleteWhen I was teaching, they always told us NOT to assign projects and whatnot over breaks and holidays, but my kid always had a ton of work. Boo! At least you had a break from other scheduled things?
ReplyDeleteWe did have a break from a few things, but my oldest son's projects were pretty huge. *cries*
DeleteThat sucks about spring break. I had a high school teacher who always assigned huge projects over Christmas. I spent those years at a computer instead of with my family. I thought it was unfair. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Yes! I felt horrible for my kids. They needed a break.
DeleteAll of your books look great! Have fun with the readalong!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Laura!
DeleteI'm looking forward to your review of The Wolf and the Watchman, it sounds so good!
ReplyDeleteWow!! Lots of great books you have here! Love the cover to Dangerous collaboration!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog
Right? It's so pretty. It was a delightful read, too.
DeleteI know right? Adrian Tchaikovsky deserves a medal for making me sympathize with his spiders. Giant spiders!
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
Seriously! I can't get over it.
DeleteSome great titles! I’ve enjoyed McMahons books.
ReplyDeleteHave a great reading week, and please stop by
Nice! The Winter People will be my first McMahon.
DeleteI really enjoyed In An Absent Dream and yep, these books just don't come out soon enough for me. It's no secret Beneath the Sugar Sky was my least favorite but I felt this one bounced back to the level I was expecting. I've read The Night Sister by McMahon and really loved it but have never gotten around to this one. I have a copy somewhere so maybe I'll dig it out.
ReplyDeleteI have a copy of The Night Sister, but I haven't read either one yet.
DeleteI think I might actually have to join in on the buddy read of The Winter People! Been wanting to read that for ages.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are able to join in! I'll post the full schedule in the next week or two.
DeleteI think I'd enjoy the Wolf and the Watchman. Going to go and check that one out now.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Lynn :D
Yes, do check it out!
DeleteHope the kids still enjoy their spring break.
ReplyDeleteThank you, JoLee!
DeleteI'm excited for your review of The Wolf and the Watchman. I have it on my kindle but haven't had a chance to read it yet!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I hope you wind up loving it, too.
DeleteThe new additions to your tbr look great, and I hope you'll enjoy them all! ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Irena!
DeleteNice haul. Enjoy your books!
