Book Review | And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

And Then There Were None is Agatha Christie's best selling mystery novel.

Book Description

"Ten . . ."
Ten strangers are lured to an isolated island mansion off the Devon coast by a mysterious "U.N. Owen."

"Nine . . ."
At dinner a recorded message accuses each of them in turn of having a guilty secret, and by the end of the night one of the guests is dead.

"Eight . . ."
Stranded by a violent storm, and haunted by a nursery rhyme counting down one by one . . . one by one they begin to die.

"Seven . . ."
Who among them is the killer and will any of them survive?

There is a reason And Then There Were None is the #1 mystery novel of all time. It is bloody brilliant.

I had so much fun reading this book. Have you seen the movie Clue? I now know it's a blatant rip off of And Then There Were None, but I love that movie. If you love that movie, too, you really need to read And Then There Were None.

Basically ten folks are brought to an island and each one is picked off one by one. Who is the murderer? You won't know until the end, and you'll be thrown for a loop a time or two.

I can't think of a mystery I would recommend more than And Then There Were None. It was pure entertainment and expertly done.

10/10: Awesome

  1. I still haven't actually read this one. I snatched up my grandmother's old hardcover copy when Gretchen McNeil's TEN was released and planned to read them back to back (because McNeil's book was also inspired by Christie's). Just a few weeks ago I gave a duplicate copy to a friend's teen daughter - she said it was her favorite book of all time!

  2. I LOVED the movie Clue when I was a kid. Loved the board game too actually. :) I was so blown away at how awesome this was. I will definitely be reading more Christie (my next one is going to be Murder at the Vicarage) and I want to try to find the movie adaptation for And Then There Were None too! So glad you loved this. :)

    1. I loved the board game, too! :) Right? This book is so good!! I need to read more Christie, too. Is that the first book in her series? I have a box of Agatha Christie books somewhere. (That's when you know you have a book problem...) I'm going to attempt to dig them out this weekend!

  3. Clue is a classic and I loved the movie and sometimes quote from it. I read this book a little while ago and I didn't really like it. However, I did appreciate it as being a forefather of the Thriller. Did you see the movie Ten Little Indians...that is based on the book as well and it's great.

  4. I love the movie Clue, as goofy as it is. And I've never read this, although I'm going to now. I've been meaning to and just haven't yet, I read TEN by Gretchen McNeil as well a while ago and liked it, and someone said I should really read the original.

  5. I'm reading this right now and you are making me want to get off the internet, shut my phone off, and read it in one sitting. I'm only about 100 pages in and I can already tell it's going to be good.
