November 9 | Currently Reading

My life has been crazy hectic lately. This is the very first time in my life I've been looking forward to winter. I'm hoping to have a reprieve from some of our commitments soon. My kids have ONE MORE week of soccer left for the season. We also just made the decision to pull my oldest out of Taekwondo after 5 years. Between both of my school age kids being inundated with projects and homework and my two year old being a full time two year old, I need to whittle life down to an acceptable amount of chaos.

I'm hoping a nice side effect of winter will be more time to read and blog.

I haven't even had time to go through the first round of Goodreads Choice nominations!

I'm pretty sure the only book I finished last week was Amulet, Vol. 1: The Stonekeeper by Kazu Kibuishi. It was really great, though. I look forward to working my way through this series of graphic novels.

I'm currently in the middle of reading Brother by Ania Ahlborn. This is normally the kind of book I would fly through so I'm looking forward to getting back to it. I also started the second Amulet book The Stonekeeper's Curse.

What about you? What are you finding time to read this week? Be sure to let me know in the comments or leave me a link!

    1. I always read more during winter/spring than summer/fall so I'm hoping to free up some time to enjoy it.

  4. I'm surprised you've managed any time for reading currently - it sounds like you've got a lot on your plate at the moment. I barely make time for reading with a two year old on loose, never mind two other children added to the mix. Haha!

Brother sounds like a really good read - I made a note of that book for future reference - hopefully you're able to get fully lost in the words soon!

    Happy reading!

    1. My husband and I were talking today about reading being pretty much the only thing I do for myself right now. I'm thankful that ebooks and audiobooks make it easier.

  5. I've lost some reading time too, although in my case it's my own fault- Netflix. But life is busy and hectic and it's hard to make time, no doubt. Hope things slow down for you.this winter.

I like graphic novels they enable you to get some reading in without taking huge amounts of time. :)

    1. Netflix sounds like a fantastic way to lose time, though. I've been watching Once Upon a Time on my lunch hour.

I haven't found many graphic novels I really like, but I'm digging Amulet so far.

  6. I read the first Amulet book before I put it into my class library and then bought the series as it updated for them because they loved it. Now I'm retired no more books but I think our local library has the series too.

    1. I'm getting this series through my library, too. It will take me a while to work my way through them. I can tell I'm behind someone who is getting them one at a time. I'm afraid to grab any ahead of them because they are probably a kid and I don't want them to lose interest. :)

  7. I totally understand how it's nice to have a break from running around from the extra curriculars and school. My tween had five weeks of a sewing class but that was at least walkable distance. My youngest had seven weeks of aikido and while it wasn't that far away, it was still an evening trek that made me make sure we either had leftovers for dinner or dinner had to be prepped in advance. We're taking a break until spring, skipping the winter session.

    1. Our taekwondo has been year round, and after 5 years, I think we were all ready for a break. They have a summer program that we will consider when the time comes. For now, I can't wait to do less things for a while.

  8. I noticed that I have a number of the GoodReads YA choices still on TBR mountain. I won't be able to vote in that category because I've read so few of the choices. Come see what I am reading here. Happy reading!

    1. At some point this week I vow to go through all of the categories. At this point, I've only skimmed over the horror. What I saw seemed a little odd, too. I'm so bad about not voting because I haven't read them all. I assume most people who do vote haven't read them all so I should probably vote anyway.
