August 1 | Currently Reading

I can't believe today is the first day of AUGUST! My kids only have a few weeks left of summer. (And I only have a few weeks to finish up at HUGE project at work.) I'm trying not to panic.

Books Read Last Week

In case you missed it, I posted my review of Nicolas Wolff's The Binding last week. It was hard to pay attention to that one. Dark Matter, on the other hand, was just the book I needed - easy to read and hard to put down.

Books Currently Reading

Paul Tremblay's A Head Full of Ghosts {review} was a great read so I'm excited to read Disappearance at Devil's Rock.

Current Distractions

Stranger Things! Who mentioned that show last week? I'm only 2 episodes in, but I'm so thrilled about the whole series. It's pretty much 1980s coming of age horror. YAS. I love it.

What about you? What are you reading this week? Be sure to let me know in the comments or leave me a link!

  1. I know! Where in the world did July go?!?

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Dark Matter. I'm thinking I might pick it up for my hubby when we go on vacation this fall.

    1. I'm not a good vacation reader, but Dark Matter would probably be a good choice!

  2. I know I mentioned it in my weekly reads last week so if that's where you saw it, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. My husband and I really miss it and are hoping they pick it up for another season. I am thinking about grabbing Dark Matter for my Kindle. It's getting so many great reviews and comments and I'm sure if my library has it, the waiting list is a mile long.

    1. I think that's exactly where I saw it! I completely ditched season 2 of Bloodline and started watching Stranger Things. :)

  3. I've heard good things about Dark Matter. I'm trying to avoid adding things to TBR mountain that don't also have a place on my reading calendar. I already have over 1000 unread books. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  4. Dark Matter sounds like a book to keep my eye out for.

I started Stranger Things on Netflix the day it came out... And I may have already finished it. It was so good!!!

I'm currently half way through In Cold Blood, and also started Our Endless Numbered Days by Clare Fuller just today. Both are library books and I'm in a time crunch to complete, but I think that'll be an easy task given that they're both page turners.

    Happy reading, and watching!!

    1. I wish I could binge watch Stranger Things! Hubby and I are watching it together and with little ones around, it's hard to find a moment to watch.

  5. Dark Matter I'm tempted to read because I enjoyed the Wayward Pines books so much. And I'm seeing it everywhere. And Stranger things was awesome. I binged that bad boy and it was fun, hoping for a S2.

  6. I've heard good things about Dark Matter and it's one of the picks for August Book of the Month. But there are so many interesting choices, not sure which to choose...

I've heard so many people talking about Stranger Things, but I'm terrible about watching shows :/

    1. It's definitely hard to find time to watch shows along with everything else. Stranger Things is really great for those of us who love 80s horror.

  7. Dark Matter was incredible. It was impossible to put down! I'm also looking forward to your thoughts on Disappearance at Devil's Rock. I loved Head Full of Ghosts too, but I didn't think Devil's Rock was as good.

    1. I finish Devil's Rock last night. I didn't enjoy it as much as Ghosts either. I will probably have a tough time putting some thoughts together, but I'm going to try. :)
