August 8 | Currently Reading

Last week I posted the August new releases I'm excited about. I also posted my review of Blake Crouch's Dark Matter.

Books Read Last Week

Disappearance at Devil's Rock by Paul Tremblay
Pressure by Brian Keene

These were both OK reads. I will try to put some thoughts together on them this week.

Books Currently Reading

Stories of the Strange and Sinister by Frank Baker

Current Distractions

This will probably keep me from reading much at all the next two weeks. I love the summer Olympics. Are you watching? I'm a huge fan of individual sports (think tennis, not basketball) so I'm all about the Olympics.

What about you? What are you reading this week? Be sure to let me know in the comments or leave me a link!

This post is being shared as part of Book Date's It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

  1. I love the cover of your current read! How cool! And I think the Olympics are such a distraction for everyone. I maaaayyybe won't get a whole lot read in the next two weeks!

  2. Looking forward to your thoughts on Stories of the Strange and Sinister. I just read the Goodreads synopsis and it sounds like an interesting read.

    1. Other things are starting to win out, but it's an interesting read.

  3. Stories of the Strange and Sinister looks so good! I'm also excited for the summer Olympics, although I tend to watch more of the Winter events. Is it just me or is this year proving to be especially horrible for Olympians? So many injuries already.

    1. I can't stand seeing all of the injuries! YIKES. I like the Winter events, too, but not as much as summer. So probably the opposite of your Olympic tastes. :)

  4. I've inly been reading mediocre books too. What's up with that? Hopefully your current read will blow you away with its awesomeness. I've never gotten into the Olympics. Have fun watching though.

  5. Ah okay reads are the worst really, not bad enough to DNF but not really the enthusiasm for them. I won't watch a lot of the Olympics, I used to but not so much these days.

  6. I used to be a lot more interested in keeping up with the Olympics, but busier schedules have prevented me from doing so anymore. I love the look of Pressure by Brian Keene - its description reminds me a bit of the MEG series by Steve Alten.

    1. I still haven't read Meg. Maybe I will do that. I was expecting more of that type of read out of Pressure, and I didn't get it.

  7. I really liked DISAPPEARANCE AT DEVIL'S ROCK but I didn't love PRESSURE. It was actually pretty disappointing considering the author.

    1. It's been a while since I've read Keene. It wasn't what I was expecting.

    1. Swimming is always exciting. I like events were I can scream "go! go! go!" Haha. Good times.

    1. It's funny how the Olympics are so long, but they can go by so fast. They will be over before you know it!
