September 12 | Currently Reading

Something got into me last week, and I managed to post a few reviews:
Maybe I'm getting my review mojo back.

Currently Reading

I spent last week reading The Fireman. It's a chunky book so it's all I managed to read. I will probably finish it up today. I love Joe Hill, and I'm so happy he will be around when his father (Stephen King) retires.

Current Distractions

The US Open ended yesterday. The women's final was one of the best women's matches I've seen in a long time. The men's final was a shit show. The world #1 player has zero disregard for the rules and the officials are too chicken shit to enforce them.

And now I get some of reading time back!

What about you? What are you reading this week? Be sure to let me know in the comments or leave me a link!

  1. I haven't read this yet but I plan too. I also need to read NOS4A2 as well. I really liked Horns (not the movie) and 20th Century Ghosts as well as Heart-Shaped Box although I want to reread that one because I read it YEARS ago and I think it was before I even knew who Joe Hill was. I'm trying to see if King has any releases planned later in the year but not having much luck!

    1. I loved, loved, loved NOS4A2. I had no idea who Joe Hill was when I bought Heart-Shaped Box, but I knew by the time I read it. (It sat on my shelf for years.) That's a good question about King. I don't know what's upcoming. That is important information.

  2. Oh I didn't know Stephen King had a son who writes, how cool is that. MInd you I am not a thriller reader but still love seeing anyone who can, write!

    1. He has definitely inherited the King writing gene. It's exciting. :)

  4. So Joe Hill is Stephen King's son? Huh. It seems like maybe I read that somewhere but forgot or it didn't register- interesting. The Fireman does look good. I'm all about scary or dystopian reads as we go into fall.

Glad the Open was good in spite of the men's issues. :)

    1. The Fireman came out in May, I think. I purposefully saved it up. Good books are meant for fall reading!

  6. I just picked up The Fireman from the library. I think I need to clear some time, since that book is so huge.

Have a great week and I hope you find lots of time to get through your book!

    1. It is huge, and it kind of feels that way even though I'm enjoying it.

  7. This book was really cool! I could totally feel him channeling his dad in this one, but it felt more like a loving homage than anything, like a fine tribute to The Stand.

    1. I'm enjoying it. If you haven't had a change to read NOS4A2, I cannot recommend it enough.

    1. I think this one really needed to be saved up anyway. It's not a summer feel good read. :)

  10. How interesting to learn Stephen King has a son who writes. I will have to give Joe Hill a go one day!

  11. Yay for the reviews last week! :) The US Open was a HUGE distraction for me - I haven't managed to get much reading done lately - AT ALL! I was very thrilled with both champions and thought that the women's game was just fantastic. I can't help but feel sorry for Pliskova as I really thought it was her game to lose, and she just didn't manage to come through and with Kerber's style of play she is just always there waiting for her opportunity. She really did deserve that one.

Good luck keeping up the mojo! :)
