Recent Updates and Currently Reading | December 13

The countdown to Christmas is here! I'm trying to spend the weekend getting all of my gifts wrapped and making sure I have everything I need. Today is my youngest son's birthday so today will be spent playing and entertaining his every whim. There will also be cupcakes! I bought him a karaoke microphone so the entire house is going to be mad at me pretty soon. 😂

Finished Reading

Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline Ghost Squad by Claribel A. Ortega The Girl and the Ghost by Hanna Alkaf

I finished reading Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline. I enjoyed it for what it was. You can check out my review for my thoughts. ⭐⭐⭐⭐★

I also finished reading Ghost Squad by Claribel A. Ortega, and I absolutely loved it. My review has been posted for this one as well. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This week I also read The Girl and the Ghost by Hanna Alkaf. I really loved this one, too! I will have a review out soon. ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫

Currently Reading

In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren

I'm currently reading In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren. It started out SO GOOD, but I'm starting to get disappointed. I'm really, really hoping things get back to my expectations soon. Next time I buy a rom-com, someone please remind me that I don't like romance 😂 I'm going to be the first jerk to not like this book.

In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren

My Book of the Month pick for December is The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins. BotM did me right by thrillers last year so I'm going to be a little more open to their selections this coming year. This is an early release so it's not out until January. I'm going to save it to read in 2021.

I added In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren to my BotM box because I've been hearing so many great things and 2020 needs all of the Christmas cheer.

I ordered a cheap, used copy of The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris, and I was sent a first edition! I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened the package. I'll insert a photo here for you to see.

So what about you? Let me know what you're reading (or watching) this week or leave me some links!

  1. I am curious about the Hawkins books. I fell in love with her via the Hex Hall books, but am still interested. I think I know what part of In a Holidaze you are reading. It took a turn I wasn't fond of, but it got back on track for me. I loved it. Hope it ends well for you

  2. I read one Christina Lauren book and it just wasn't for me. I always think I should try their books again, though. Good luck with your present wrapping! I'm doing that today too, although I'm still waiting for some online shopping packages to show up😁

  6. What a fun gift, though you may be tempted to pretend you have no batteries for it sooner rather than later :) My husband and son also have birthdays this month

    1. Right? It has a charger like a phone so I may be hiding all of the chargers at some point. Haha.

    1. I've only been seeing positive reviews for it. It just wasn't a good fit for me, unfortunately.

  9. Great idea, the karaoke *grins devilishly*. I remember when my eldest was small and the town offered parents a wooden toy that rattled the floor and I thought that it was going to start a war between neighbours in appartments, lol. The first edition is a completely good surprise, thumbs up !
