Recent Updates and Currently Reading | December 3

I love how much everyone loves Remarkably Bright Creatures ❤️ My entire book club loved it, too. We need some recommendations for next year if you have any suggestions.

I'm sad that I didn't get to read a lot more books this year than I managed to read. This was probably my lowest year in the last decade, but I did read some really great books which is what matters most.

Do you have any particular books you are trying to read or finish before the end of the year?

Finished Reading

Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson

Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson ⭐ - I loved reading this so much. If you haven't read Sanderson before, I think this is a very accessible place to start

Currently Reading

White Horse by Erika T. Wurth

White Horse by Erika T. Wurth - This is the December readalong pick over on the Horror Spotlight discord group. We have such a wonderful group over there.

  1. I just checked 12 books out of the library (I know! I have a library book addiction!) that I'm hoping to get read before the end of the year. Who knows if I'll get through all of them.

  2. If you all enjoyed Creatures, I read a book that had that same sort of warmth - The Mostly True Story of Tanner & Louise and The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper. Both have older MCs and there's a lot about connection.

    1. Thank you! If we don't read them as a group, I'll still try to check them out. :)

  4. I have finished all the books I am going to do for challenges and such. This month is just reading whatever I want, whenever I want, no deadlines or obligations. It's wonderful. Have a great week!

  6. I'm also not going to hit my reading goal this year, but that's just how it goes for me. Life gets in the way.

  7. I've hit my goals and finished my 2023 ARCs but for a couple audios which I'm listening to now. I want to get ahead on my 2024 ebooks now and just read some for fun. There's still time to read a bit more! I know it's a holiday season but hopefully you will have a little time to relax.

  9. I don’t think I’ll make my overall reading goal this year, though it’s still a possibility. My challenge success will be a bit hit or miss too.

    Wishing you a reading week

  10. I do have some books I'm hoping to get to. Nov was not a good month for reading for me.

  11. I've never read Sanderson, but I've heard so many positive things about this author. Thanks for the recommendation.

My numbers are much, much lower this year, but I'm (oddly!) fine with that.

  12. December is always my slowest reading month so I'm not trying to read anything right now.
