Recent Updates and Currently Reading | December 16

We only have one week left until Christmas. What? And it snowed last week! I live on the Texas gulf coast where it doesn't snow so it was my first real snowfall. It was such a great day.

Read Last Week

November was a really rough month for me. The reading has not been happening. I have been reading a little bit of Lonesome Dove. There were a lot of references to it in the final season of Longmire so I grabbed it off of my shelf.

In My Mailbox

Bone Music (Burning Girl #1) by Christopher Rice - The folks at Thomas & Mercer sent me an ARC of Bone Music. "Charlotte Rowe spent the first seven years of her life in the hands of the only parents she knew—a pair of serial killers who murdered her mother and tried to shape Charlotte in their own twisted image." I'm going to tread lightly going into this one, but I enjoyed A Density of Souls and Snow Garden by Christopher Rice. I'd love to read another book by him.

My sweet friend Becky sent me The Listener and Widow's Point.

The Listener by Robert McCammon - McCammon is my favorite author so I haven't looked much into what The Listener is about. McCammon is an amazing writer. I can't wait to lose myself in this book. It's going to be a tough wait, but I'm saving this book to be my January 1 first book of the year.

Widow's Point by Richard Chizmar, Billy Chizmar - This one is a novella length ghost story. This will probably be the very next book that I read.

Thanks, Becky!

Did guys watch the final season of Longmire? If you haven't seen that series yet, check it out. I loved it. I bought the first book on an audible deal so I guess I will have to start reading the books now that the Netflix series is over.

I started watching The Punisher this past week. The production value is high, but I'm not sold on the story yet.

So what about you? Let me know what you're reading (or watching) this week or leave me some links!

    1. If you have access to Netflix, you can binge the whole thing. :)

  3. I haven't heard of the books you hauled. I hope you love them though. :-)

  4. I'm sad to see Longmire end too. I liked it but some things felt like they were just cramming much in because it was ending. And for the record, I think the person running for sheriff at the end will be a lousy one. I think your the immunotherapy blogger I've ever heard mention Then Snow Garden. I really liked that book. I'm super curious about the ones you picked up this week.

    1. I agree with you completely. I guess that was the best "happy ending" they do as far as the sheriff and that character's story line. I do love the whole happy ending thing, though. Usually there is death and misery when a series ends. I'm hoping Orphan Black and Longmire are the new trend in series finales. I want more happy conclusions.

LOL. I love autocorrect sometimes. :) I don't remember anything about the two Christopher Rice books because it's been a long time since I read them, but I do remember enjoying them.

    2. I can't believe auto correct. Didn't catch that one earlier but it has to be one of the best. You are right, I forgot Orphan Black ended as well as it did too.

  6. Finding time to read has been tough, with the holiday rush! I did finally catch up with season 2 of Stranger Things though, and now my husband and I are really enjoying The Orville!

    1. I loved Stranger Things so much! It's one of my favorite series of all times at this point. I haven't seen The Orville. I will look that one up today.

  7. Maybe I should watch Longmire. I saw the first episode and wasn't totally sold, maybe I should give it more of a chance. Everyone seems to love it. I watched the first Punisher too and wasn't sure...

    1. You might want to give it a little time. It's not a perfect series, but there are qualities you don't find in other shows. The characters and the relationships are pretty great. I'll let you know how The Punisher pans out.

    1. I'm starting to panic about Christmas a little. I've been so unfocused this year. I'm mostly ready, but there's only a week left! I hope you are able to get a lot done tomorrow!

  10. I'm trying to get through my latest Game of Thrones book but it is huge and reading time is limited so it's taking a while! I am enjoying it though but tonight I need to really start getting through it.

    1. I made it halfway through the first book when I first tried that series. I hadn't seen the show, though. There were so many characters to keep up with. I should try again now that I have a grasp of things.

  13. Oooh! New Christopher Rice I didn't know about. I've actually only read The Snow Garden but really enjoyed it from what I remember.

I haven't started The Punisher yet but I did just finish Netflix's new one Dark. I was really impressed although the dubbing (it's originally German) took some getting used to.
