July 22 | Currently Reading

Happy Monday! Last week was a great reading week. I even managed to write a review or two! It has been raining (storming) here. The rain makes for awesome reading weather, but I'm ready for everything to dry back up now!

I finished reading Stephen King's Joyland. I also listened to Jeff Probst's Stranded on audio.

I started reading Life Among the Savages by Shirley Jackson and Sandman Vol. 1: Preludes & Nocturnes by Neil Gaiman, and I'm listening to Horns by Joe Hill.

I hope everyone has a fabulous week this week. Let me know what you are reading or leave me a link!

  1. I loaded Joyland on my iPod, but I haven't gotten a chance to listen to it yet. Hopefully I can get to it within the next few weeks.

  2. You did have a productive week. Our weather has been hot and dry. That is also good reading weather since I don't want to leave my air conditioned home. Come see what I did last week here. Happy reading this week!

  3. What did you think of Joyland? You haven't reviewed it yet right? I've seen a lot of mixed reactions to that one so I'm curious :)

  4. Oh, I totally agree - rain makes for perfect reading weather. I used to love to curl up during a storm. Sadly we don't get much of them here :( I definitely miss the days of torrential downpours back home.

Now that I'm through the Nancy Bilyeau reads of this weekend, I'm onto THE CURIOSITY by Stephen Kiernan.

  5. I see a Stephen King book and his son's book. How does the son compare to his famous dad in writing style? Also, Survivor is a guilty pleasure for my kids and I and I have heard of this book. Is it written for very young kids or considered YA? Thanks for sharing!

    1. Joe Hill's Heart-Shaped Box and Horns were nothing like Stephen King. NOS4A2, however, was very much like a Stephen King novel. The Jeff Probst book would be a good middle grade read. If they love Survivor, it might be a good series for them. It wasn't an amazing read, but plenty of survival fun for kids.

  6. I haven't read any of Gaiman's stories before, but I downloaded the first issue of Sandman from Amazon a few days ago. Looking forward to your review of Horns!

  9. I just got Joyland in the mail, yay!! And I am such a fan of Joe Hill. :) I would love to go to one of their family dinners! Lol. Such creativity in that family.
