July 25 | Currently Reading

Summer, summer, summertime...

I don't know about you but my reading slows way down over the summer. The "beach read" scenario is an enigma to me.

Finished Reading

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

It's been a little while since I finished The 5th Wave, but I haven't mention it yet. It was a really great read - just the thing I needed during my slow season. I tried to read the sequel The Infinite Sea, but I wasn't feeling it at all. I will try again when I have more reading mojo.

Books Currently Reading

Wolves of the Calla by Stephen King
The Binding by Nicholas Wolff

I really need to finish The Dark Tower series once and for all. Keep me in your thoughts.

Current Distractions

We finally got to see Finding Dory. Nemo is one of my all time favorites so it was about time. I loved all of the homage Dory paid to the original Nemo. My kids thought it was even better than the first movie, but my heart will always belong to Nemo.

Have you seen it yet?

What about you? What are you reading this week? Be sure to let me know in the comments or leave me a link!

  2. I'm just the opposite. Summer is my peak reading time. Come see what my week was like here. Happy reading!

    1. I can imagine being a teacher. I remember what it was like in college pulling all night reading sessions as soon as the semester would end!

  3. Summer is a complicated reading time for me. It's my "off" season, so I feel pressure to read while I have the time, but I also feel like I read slower during the summertime. The 5th Wave has been sitting on my bookshelf since one of my students recommended it to me, so I'm glad to know it's worth getting to!

    1. It's a great read for when you aren't necessarily in the reading mood. For me, that's the best time for a page turner.

  4. Love that shot of the beach! And I don't read much on vacation- seems like we're always running around somewhere and it just doesn't happen. :) I've been thinking of trying the 5th Wave movie- haven't read the books.

Haven't seen Finding Dory but I want to. It looks really cute.

    1. That's pretty much why I read the book - so I can watch the movie. ;)

  5. I feel like my reading slows down in the summer too. If I looked at my numbers though, I think I'd find it doesn't but it sure feels like it.
After watching the movie of The 5th Wave I'm not sure I'll still read the book. Have you seen the movie? Should I still give the book a shot?

    1. I haven't seen it yet. Nah... if you've seen it already you could probably skip the book. I'd feel differently if book 2 sucked me in just as much but it didn't.

  6. Dory is everywhere and I haven't seen it but I did enjoy Nemo! Thinking of going to see the BFG though.

  7. Yes, The Infinite Sea was hard for me to get into but I liked it in the end and can't wait to read the next in the series.

  8. I have never finished The Dark Tower series either! I really loved it, then it just petered out. I was just saying I need to reread it/finish it. I love Stephen King!

  10. Oh, I haven't had a chance to see Finding Dory yet, but I think my heart will always belong to Nemo, too. ;)
