Recent Updates and Currently Reading | April 10

Real talk - despite being triple protected, I managed to come down with you-know-what back in January. I have been so low functioning ever since, I haven't managed to do blog updates other than a couple of reviews over the last few months. This may not be an official return to weekly posts, but it's a start! I'm hoping to spend some time today catching up with everyone the best I can.

These are my favorite reads over the last few months:

Bad Witch Burning by Jessica Lewis The Other Black Girl by Zakiya Dalila Harris Our Last Echoes by Kate Alice Marshall
Girl in the Walls by Katy Michelle Quinn The Dead and the Dark by Courtney Gould Long Lost by Jacqueline West

  1. So sorry you were in the minority who do get sick despite shots! I'm older than you, so my husband and I are going to get our second round of boosters tomorrow just in case. I go grocery shopping once a week and we get gas, but otherwise we are sticking to our backyard and house. As a reader, the hermit life suits me just fine and the adult kids do visit once in awhile.

I don't do horror or really creepy books but out of your titles I like the sound of The Other Black Girl and Dead Silence. I hope you feel better and get back into reading and blogging more.

  2. Well Jennifer I hope you'll get back to your "before" normal soon! People still catch it even with triple protection but they say that usually they have milder symptoms. I have been lucky to have been spared so far but who knows!

  3. I'm so sorry you haven't been feeling well. I'm going to get my second booster this week, but people are still getting Covid anyway.

I enjoy creepy books and the ones you are reading look good.

Enjoy your books, feel better and have a great week!

  4. I’m sorry to hear you are experiencing the effects of Long Covid. My youngest son (triple vaxxed) just tested positive last night, and I’m now quite anxious that my odds of getting it have skyrocketed after being so careful for so long.
    Take care of yourself

Wishing you a great reading week

  5. Sorry to hear the long-Covid got you. I was lucky. One day of high fever, and then a good stretch of fatigue and headache, but nothing too serious. ((HUGS)) and I hope you are feeling better soon.

  6. I'm sorry you got ill. We have avoided it but we are really careful, got our 2nd booster recently. We still mask when we go out which is only about once a week for curbside or medical appts. I don't mind our more solitary life - it lets me read a lot. Enjoy your reads!

  7. I'm so sorry to hear you caught COVID and that it's affected you in the long run. I have an IRL friend who's dealing with major complications from when she had COVID in 2020. I hope you start feeling like more yourself soon.

  8. So sorry to hear you've the dreaded virus got you and that it hit you so hard. That long term fatigue is so frustrating but I'm glad you are feeling a bit better. I hope you have a wonderful week and continue to feel better.

  9. It's so annoying when you get Covid even after the shots. I mean, I know they don't keep you from getting it per se, but still ha ha! Anyway Dead Silence was a TRIP!

  10. Sorry to hear you're continuing to have issues, Jennifer. That's a real fear of mine with Covid... all the possible long-term issues. I hope you'll continue to improve and regain more stamina.

  11. I had it the end of December and all of January. It took me a month to stop having sick symptoms and another month to feel normal again. I hope you get back to normal soon. It seems to take a while.

  12. I'm sorry you got hit so hard. I hope you regain your energy and start feeling better soon! Our Last Echoes looks intriguing. And I loved Dead Silence! Happy reading...and hang in there. :D

  13. I'm so sorry you still don't feel 100%, but I hope things improve soon! I loved Dead Silence, it was so creepy😁

  14. The brand developed its LR Ambassadors program to work with influencers, and it’s been a hit. After working with a series of influencers in his niche, he saw his sales increase and increase, and in just 10 months, Karolis had made $14,960. Working with influencers is a key part of Zara’s marketing approach. The brand has partnered with huge influencers like Kylie Jenner, who represented the brand in several posts that gained millions of likes.
The key is to foster relationships with people who have a positive impact on your brand and industry. If and when the time comes, you can end the relationship and try something new. Many consumers today are more influenced by peers or known figures who create authentic and genuine content rather than traditional marketing advertisements.
To understand social media's massive business impact today, we need to look back at how we got here in the first place. Live commerce is starting to excite the Retail market, and we’ve been ahead of the game to ensure brands can get the most out of it. It has always been important for brands to connect with the influential thought-leaders and opinion-makers in their space. What has changed is the breadth and depth of these influential profiles.

  16. The findings confirm that creative campaigns are, in general, more effective than other types of ads. The research also shows that the various creativity dimensions deliver different results. Elaboration, for instance, had a far more powerful effect on sales than did originality, a more commonly used dimension. Indeed, many companies focus on the wrong dimensions in their campaigns. This article reveals which product categories are best suited to creative advertising and which dimensions of creativity have the most influence on sales. Do highly creative ads really inspire people to buy products?
Guest posting is a simple way to increase viewership to your website or social media channels through partnerships with celebrities, influencers or other prominent people. Allow someone to do a social media "takeover" where they post related content on your accounts for a determined amount of time. For example, you may convert a bus shelter to look like the person waiting for a ride is sitting at a sporting event to sell game tickets.
Social media advertising can help you achieve many goals, such as driving website traffic, increasing engagement, and generating leads . It could be a party, demo, festival, workshop, anniversary sale, charity event, or webinar. The options are endless and don’t have to cost an arm and a leg. The most-used pairing, flexibility plus elaboration, is one of the least effective. The most effective pairing, originality plus elaboration, had almost double the impact.

But, as you know, the advertising types above have evolved dramatically since their respective origins. What were once quite one-dimensional messages now carry clever, funny, or profound undertones that make the ads memorable years after they first ran. Because of the impact they had on the growth of the brand, and because they manage to hit on some universal truth that allows us to remember these campaigns years after they first began.

They don't care about what you do for others or what you're doing for your business. They care about what you can do for them, their company, or their industry. The power of community can be much more effective than money poured into advertising. These 10 tips are great to use as jumping-off points for your local business. This tactic works great for newly opened businesses that need to get the word going. In addition to that, your commentary and perspective will establish you as an active member of the community that will draw more attention to your business.
