Currently Reading | Tripwire by Lee Child

My Currently Reading posts are shared as part of Book Journey's It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

I finished reading Peter Clines's Ex-Heroes last week. It was a superhero vs. zombie book and a whole lot of fun. I also read Stalking You Now by Jeff Strand which was a miss for me, but my Goodreads friends loved it.

Then I entered into the dreaded reading funk! Oh, how I hate those. I've been pulling books off my shelf and going through my Kindle files and nothing feels right. I finally decided I would read The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making only to find out I don't actually own it.

Thank goodness for the Jack Reacher series. Until I pull myself out of this funk, I'm reading book 3 (Tripwire) of the series.

One more thing about The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland..., my library only has the sequel. Why would they do that? You would think they would have ordered the first one as well if they were going to order the series. Unfortunately I don't have access to very good libraries here. I actually pay to use a library in a nearby town. How sad is that? I pay to use a library.

So I hope all is well with you! I look forward to hearing what you are reading this week. Either let me know in the comments or link me to a post.

Discussion:
What are you reading this week? Do you have an awesome library in your town? I get so jealous when I see great library loot posts.

Book Review | Die Trying (Jack Reacher #2) by Lee Child

Die Trying is the second installment in Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series.
When a woman is kidnapped, Jack Reacher's in the wrong place at the wrong time. He's kidnapped with her. Now he has to save them both.

In my review of the first Jack Reacher book, Killing Floor, I mentioned expecting these books to be more military in nature. Die Trying was closer to what I was expecting but still very much in the thriller genre which I enjoy.

Some things I was happy about in this sequel: multiple POVs, better developed characters, continued fast pacing, very stand alone for a series.

I do hope there is a lot more diversity in the bad guys going forward, though. So far all of the bad guys are exactly alike. Despite that complaint, I’m really enjoying this series. I love page turners so this series is perfect to continue any time I need some suspense.

If you enjoy fast paced thrillers, too, you should join me in reading this series!

6/10: Good Read

Discussion:
Have you read any of the Jack Reacher series? Have you seen the movie yet? Are you a fan of Tom Cruise? I must admit to being a big fan of Tom Cruise. He's clearly nuts, but he's such a great actor. A Few Good Men is one of my top favorite movies of all time.

Review | Killing Floor (Jack Reacher #1) by Lee Child

Killing Floor is the first book in the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child.

While passing through a small Georgia town, former cop Jack Reacher is arrested for murder. Jack knows that he didn't kill anybody. But he doesn't stand a chance of convincing anyone.

The Jack Reacher series is a lot different than I expected. It turns out Killing Floor is actually my style of read. I assumed these books would be more military in nature, but Killing Floor is a crime thriller that just happens to star an ex-military cop. I'm now wondering if the Stephen Hunter books are at all what I thought they were either.

Killing Floor was a very fast read. I love a good page turner so I will be sticking with this series for a while. The brutal nature of the crimes were a little over the top for me, but I don't think it was more than the average reader can handle. If you are a fan of page turning mysteries, Killing Floor is a great book to check out. I can only imagine the rest of the series will prove worthwhile as well.

7/10: Recommended Read

Have you read any of the Jack Reacher series? Have you seen the Tom Cruise movie yet? I'm a fan of Tom Cruise, but I won't have the chance to check out the movie for a while.

Currently Reading | The Twelve, Jack Reacher

I finally finished reading The Twelve. I was very disappointed! I had no idea who most of the characters were, and the timeline was too confusing. I'm not going to post a review because it would just be a whole lot of complaining. Despite all that, I loved The Passage hard core so I'm still going to read book 3.

I've started reading the Jack Reacher books by Lee Child. I'm on the second book right now, and I'm enjoying the series. It is different than I thought it would be! These books are actually more my style than I was expecting them to be.

Have you read the Jack Reacher books? I have a question for you! The Jack Reacher movie that just came out is based on book 9. Books 1 and 2 seemed to be very stand alone. Are they all that way? Can I read book 9 out of order without spoiling anything?

What are you reading this week?
