March 31 | Currently Reading

Hi, everyone! You may have noticed I've been on a bit of a hiatus lately. It started out simply taking time off during my kids' spring break, but that turned into the flu and pneumonia and a whole host of not feeling up to posting on the blog.

During my time away I've finished reading The Body Book by Cameron Diaz, The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski, and The Bleeding Season by Greg Gifune:

I enjoyed the Cameron Diaz book. The Winner's Curse wasn't particularly great for me. The Bleeding Season, however, was a really great read.

Right now I'm rereading Speaks the Nightbird by Robert McCammon. I've been in the mood to read it again for quite some time and the new book in the Matthew Corbett series comes out in a couple of months.

I hope it is starting to look like spring for you guys. The pollen is coating EVERYTHING right now, but I'm loving the beautiful weather. All of our flower seeds have sprouted. I'm looking forward to moving those into the yard. Baseball season has started. We have just 3 short weeks until our first planned trip to the beach. Happy times make me happy.

Let me hear what is going on with you and especially what you are reading this week. Be sure to let me know in the comments or leave me a link!

  1. The Bleeding Season cover is kinda creepy for sure. Glad you enjoyed it. The Cameron Diaz book looks like an interesting read to me. Glad you are back and feeling better. Enjoy reading this week.

  2. Hi, Rita! Yeah, The Bleeding Season was all around creepy. It was just the thing I needed to lift my spirits as odd as that sounds. Thanks so much - I hope you have a great week, too.

  3. I hope you are feeling better now - and if not that beach trip in a few weeks will do you the world of good eh.
The Body Book is new to me but certainly seems interesting.
I hope you enjoy all your upcoming reads!

  4. Speaks The Nightbird sounds fascinating, I love historical based stories like that. Witch hunts too... glad to see you back and hope you're feeling better. Seems like everyone is sick, lots of nasty spring stuff going around. We're just starting to get some warmer temps here- a trip to the beach sounds pretty dang good!

  5. Oh my gosh! Pneumonia! I hope you are feeling better now. :) A beach trip sounds wonderful btw. :)

    Speaks the Nightbird sounds good!

  6. I hope you are feeling better. I was excited to see that you had read and enjoyed The Body Book. I was thinking of picking this one up but had yet to hear from anyone on their thoughts on the book. I have not previously read any of McCammon's work but Speaks the Nightbird sounds very intriguing.
    Happy Reading!

  7. Oo The Bleeding Season has a great cover. I just finished a Zombie book last night and it was good. Not sure what I'll be reading next. As for the weather it's been beautiful outside the past few days.

  8. I REALLY want to try to read Speaks the Nightbird this year, but I'll most likely get around to Swan Song first since I own the ebook. :)
It's starting to look like Spring here! Still a bit chilly but not nearly as cold as it has been. I have a few flower seeds I want to plant, I need to get on that before it's too late!

  9. It is starting to feel a bit like spring. I actually read outside for a few moments today!

    Have a wonderful week. :)

  10. We are getting snow again today! Glad you guys are feeling better. Nice to read your posts again.

  11. Sorry to see that you've been sick! The beach sounds really good about now :)

  12. Boo to the flu :( That's no fun at all. I hope you're feeling much better now! Happy reading :D

  13. Oh poo on the sickness and all that not so fun illness. I hope you are feeling better. We are starting to dip a toe into Summer here in Texas. Spring here is so fleeting.

  14. Hmmm. Now I'll have to check out The Bleeding Season.

  15. Oh I hope you're feeling better now! I was sick for so long. I had a cough for about a month and then I was better and then I got really sick with a respitory infection. Ugh! Anyway, I think I'm up to the 4th Matthew Corbett book. I can't remember if I have the next one in hard copy or not and I don't want to buy the kindle version if I do, lol. I need to organize my books even more. Looking forward to your review of The Bleeding Season.
